VERMONTMUSICSHOP.COM: BUY LOCAL & SUPPORT VERMONT MUSIC!
Hey, if you're going to buy stuff this holiday season you might as well do a world of good while you're busy at it: Grab your gifts at http://www.vermontmusicshop.com and you'll be supporting your local Vermont musicians, their biggest hyperventilating cheerleader Big Heavy World (a volunteer-run nonprofit), and you'll be getting the best darned music there is to give. There's more than 300 CD titles from Vermont artists in-stock, the shop takes three credit cards through a secure server, accepts checks, and sends everything via USPS Priority Mail. It's been around since 1998 and is the biggest thing like it. The store is searchable by artist, title or genre and Shop Manager Dave Donegan will help you find ANYTHING if you tag him at musicshop@bigheavyworld.net . Thanks for thinking about shopping at http://www.vermontmusicshop.com - your personal support makes the scene go 'round. :)

BHW THANX: Thanks this time' round to: Terry Schwartze at WalMart for setting the video crew up with blank MiniDV tapes; Kathy Soulia at the Burlington Free Press for being so up about the First Night Preview Series at 242 Main and supporting 242/BHW so hard; all the bands playing First Night at Memorial Auditorium for being SO COOL during the preproduction madness; and Jim Hadeka of FIVE MINUTES HATE http://www.5minuteshate.com for pulling the Metal Fest together.

FOR ***VERMONT*** MUSICIANS:

TWO BHW COMPILATION CD'S IN PRODUCTION
'BETTER ANGELS' is a collection of indie rock/indie pop/shoegazing/college-rock/alt/art rock tunez from Vermont artists, in production now. Artists that might fit the theme can send tracks for consideration to the address below. It's a benefit for childreach.org and BHW. >>> 'BOX OF NAILS' is a collection of Vermont's heaviest, expected to rip like a bonesaw. This one's a fundraiser for BHW. 'Nails' goes into production in Spring of 2004. Both discs get pressed when we've pulled together enough sponsorships to pay for manufacturing and both will be sent to 200 college stations as part of BHW's seasonal Buzzsaw mailing. A local design firm has stepped up to do the package art and we're feeling very, very good about both comps. Send material for consideration (on CD or CDR) to: BHW, Attn: Nina, P.O. Box 428, Burlington, VT 05402-0428. For info call Nina VanZandt, (802) 865-1140, email xemoxstarx@hotmail.com .

BIG HEAVY BUZZSAW COLLEGE RADIO MAILING SPRING 2004
Vermont bands with CD's of any genre: Now's the time to start saving the nickels to have your disc included in the next Big Heavy World BUZZSAW college radio mailing. Mid-Spring we'll be sending 200 boxes of VT music to college radio stations across the states; you get phone numbers to track them if you want to. Cost is $200, which the geniuses in the room will figure is $1 per CD, a raging bargain made possible by all of us working together. Only room for a dozen discs so reserve a space now, 865-1140 or redshift@bigheavyworld.net.

YOU IN THE BAND GUIDE, THE SHOP, AND THE VT MUSIC LIBRARY?
Bands and solo performers: Check to see if you're in the VERMONT BAND GUIDE at http://www.bigheavyworld.com/bandguide.php. If not, send info to us through the form at the top of the web page. Your CD in inventory at VERMONTMUSICSHOP.COM, http://www.vermontmusicshop.com ? (Search for your band name or title on the main page). If not, email Dave at musicshop@bigheavyworld.net and he'll tell you how to make it happen. Your CD in the VERMONT MUSIC LIBRARY at http://www.bigheavyworld.com/library_collection.php ? Contact Jim at redshift@bigheavyworld.net to get a disc on the shelf of this permanent public archive.

ARTISTS/PROMOTERS: HELP US?
Big Heavy World is a dinky nonprofit with normal-sized bills. We might have 50 people volunteering here to promote and archive Vermont-made music, but since there's no such thing as a "Big Heavy World Tax" we have a tough time keeping the lights on. You can help if putting shows together is your thing - If you've got the friends and connections to produce benefit shows to help us do what we do, please know we'd luv to feel the luv. We support ALL Vermont music, inclusively, so if you're brave enough to step forward and support, know your effort would be appreciated beyond words. (Thanks!).
