OLD NEWS... BUT READ IT ANYWAY (IF YOU'RE A VERMONT MUSICIAN):

MADNESS IN THE JUNGLE ROOM... BHW SITE GETS KICK IN THE *&!
For the next few months expect to regularly see FLAME coming from the third-floor windows of the Big Heavy World office/studio/crib as the crew throws some gas onto the web site and does the dance around it... All the incredible custom site programming that's happened in the last two years with support from Scully Interactive (http://www.scullyinteractive.com) and Irving Rabin (MAILBOX, http://www.superpickle.com/mailbox) is being brought to full-capacity by old and new volunteers, bringing things up-to-date and launching or gettting ready to launch parts that haven't been brought to light until now. Between now and April: Jim Hadeka (ASSEMBLE THE REMAINS, http://www.assembletheremains.com) is running the MP3 Showcase page - if you've got MP3's to give away, send them our way. Spencer Crispe & Mikey X (MY REVENGE, http://www.xmulletx.com/myrevenge & FIGHT BACK, http://www.fightbackcrew.tk) are pit-bossing the DIY Shows Page - Vermont bands and venues should shoot an email this way and you'll get the password to add your own shows to the page. It highlights all-ages shows, too... just so ya know; Jesse Chamberlain (13TH CHAIR, http://www.13thchair.com) is moving down the line with the Vermont Band Guide - the venerable institution is getting the spit smacked out of it by Jesse and Rose Kilpatrick, nuking dead bands and squeezing fresh blood into it (email us for info or to get into the guide); Sarah Saltus and Corinne Cogger have taken the ropes of the Paparazzi section over and are shoveling a pile of photos onto it - some from the unpublished archive, some still steaming; Scott Nelle is joining us from Champlain College to stir the alchemical PHP pot; Al Nemethy is about to begin the grand adventure of shooting 3D photos of local live music venues for the venue directory that's got hooks in it from Derek Beam and Damien Thibault who are getting the low-down on booking contacts, capacities, and maps so the musicians with interest will have a one-stop web site for scoring local gigs... and the near-future arrival of the mystical Video page is imminent with Kate Wheeler converting last year's MiniDV band interviews into streaming format with help from Jesse Krembs; the database of "What-Music-Got-Reviewed-In-Seven Days Newspaper" will be published in Joe Atherton's Vermont Music Library area along with a searchable library catalog (we're gathering the equipment to research Free Press music reviews now too...)... Will Glass, new to the crew, will be adding descriptions to the CD pages of Dave Donegan's vermontmusicshop.com and we'll be figuring out the legalities of putting our 3,000+ song online radio station back on the air (we're determined to figure out how much artist performance royalties will cost and find the sponsorship money to pay them... the math is crayzee...). The email here is redshift@bigheavyworld.net - don't be shy! :) BIG HEAVY WORLD IS RUN BY VOLUNTEERS. If you want to pitch in and bust a sweat with the rest of us Terminator wannabees, get in touch with Jim at redshift@bigheavyworld.net. We do time in the office on Tuesday and Thursday nights, 6-8pm.
