HELLBENDER THANKS!!!
This note of 'Thanx!' is a long time coming... Big Heavy wants *everybody* to know what a blast Hellbender was for us this year and how kind all the bands were to us for being there to support us. We called the November 1 show a "skullcrusher' and think that pretty much hit it, with amazing sets by CHAINSAWS.AND.CHILDREN (http://www.chainsawsandchildren.com); THE NEW ELEMENT (http://www.damageyastamina.com; DAY OF RECKONING; DYSFUNKSHUN (http://www.dysfunkshun.com); Duncan Wilder Johnson's DESTRUCTATHON (http://www.duncanwilderjohnson.com/destructathon.html); and ASSEMBLE THE REMAINS (http://assembletheremains.com). Thanks to everybody who played, gamed, came or made it happen! Special thanks to Jim Hadeka (http://assembletheremains.com) for the show's web site; to the posse that pre-sold a billion tickets, and to our esteemed Anonymous for the video projector 'rental' :) Photos are coming soon to the BHW Pics page, keep your eyes on it.
BUZZ HOMEBREW MADNESS - GUESTS AND SONG SEARCH
The Homebrew show on 99.9FM The Buzz is having some special guests over the next few weeks - get a whiff of the OVXBIGHEAVYBUZZFEST Sunday nights at 9:30pm at 99.9FM with DJ Sparky and 13TH CHAIR (http://www.13thchair.com) on Sunday December 22, then tentatively THE STATIC AGE (http://www.thestaticage.com) and RIVER CITY REBELS (http://www.rivercityrebels.com) on the 29th... BUZZ HOMEBREW THEME SONG SEARCH: Sparky sent this our way and we want to pass it on to all'y'all: "...just to let you and the BigHeavyWorld of bands know... I'm doing a new Homebrew Theme Song Search... Theme-song should be no more than 30 seconds and have the words "Ninety-Nine Nine The Buzz" and "Homebrew" - whatever else they choose to add is up to them. No cussin', no screamin' "Kill the President!!"... Judged on creativity, sound quality, and content. All entries due by January 24th, 2003. There may be some prizes for the winner, other than having their Homebrew Theme Song immortalized for years." Aight, then... have at it - submissions should be sent to: 99.9 The Buzz, 255 South Champlain Street, Burlington, VT 05401 Attn: Sparky.
THE PINK BASEBALL BAT ONLY HURTS A LITTLE...VOLUNTEERS WANTED!
If you're curious about how we keep busy here on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6-8pm, get in touch. We're looking for help to take pics and run the live photos page; get our wannabe cross-platform network tightened up and figure out what we've got in our I.T. warehouse; plow through setting up an ebay yardsale to fundraise for some updated software; fix our donated truck 'Rascal' which needs brake work; street-team our upcoming live music series, and generally help muck our way through the daily grind of this ultrasexy sweatshop. My email is redshift@bigheavyworld.net and the office is on the third floor of the building Pure Pop is in - email or come by in person to see how things happen up here.
BHW THANKS
Fat-bottomed thanks this time around to: AL NEMETHY (BHW crewgod) for the CD burner - and to TRAVYSS GASTON for the Olympic burning of 50 CD's in one day for Hellbender (Philadelphia is lucky to have you); thanks to PAUL HOCHANADEL and family for the 30-foot transmitter tower (which we love, because we're geeks...); thanks to MIKE DENUNZIO, Manager of Circuit City, for helping us get a replacement for our deceased digital camera; thanks to CRAIG DUCKWORTH for busting new BHW shirts out for us in a hurry and offering to do it again in time for First Night... and thanks to anybody who's had a nice thought on our behalf since the last newzrag - WE LOVE YOU.
