HELL'S BACK... HELLBENDER RETURNS TO HIGHER GROUND
Big Heavy World and 99.9 THE BUZZ drop the third annual *brutal*music showcase onto the Day of the Dead this year... HELLBENDER returns Friday, November 1 to Higher Ground!!! Six bands rip Winooski a new face from the stage amid multimedia mayhem: Networked videogame bloodsport returns with wall-sized video projections and computer-generated visuals. It's all ages, doors open at 7pm for seasonal skull-crushing from: CHAINSAWS.AND.CHILDREN (http://www.chainsawsandchildren.com); THE NEW ELEMENT (formerly Torsion, http://www.damageyastamina.com; DAY OF RECKONING; DYSFUNKSHUN (http://www.dysfunkshun.com); DESTRUCT-A-THON (Boston, http://www.duncanwilderjohnson.com/destructathon.html); and ASSEMBLE THE REMAINS (http://assembletheremains.com/). It's presented by 99.9 THE BUZZ (http://www.999thebuzz.com) and sponsored by ADVANCE MUSIC (http://www.advancemusicvt.com). Our Master of Ceremonies is DAVEY HORROR (http://www.daveyhorror.com), legendary epicurean presenter of the creepy and bizarre on his VCAM (Adelphia Ch. 15) television show. FREE COMPILATION CD'S of the HELLBENDER bands will be given to the first 100 to arrive, and lucky doorpize winners will take home surprizes too gruesome to print. Tickets: $8, available at the Higher Ground Box Office, Pure Pop Records, Peacock Music in Plattsburgh, online at highergroundmusic.com or by calling 1-800.965.4827. If you're at CVU you can tag one of the BHW crew there. For directions to Higher Ground hit http://www.highergroundmusic.com/info.php. For show info and free downloads from the HELLBENDER bands visit http://www.bigheavyworld.com/hellbender. QUAKE 3 GAMERS: Contact Jim, redshift@bigheavyworld.net if you want to pack your box to the private balcony network and get your hands bloody at the show! HELLBENDER is a fundraiser for Big Heavy World, pimpin' local music hard since 1996!

PUNK ROCK DRIVE-IN THANKS!
The Big Heavy World crew had the best time EVER at the Punk Rock Drive-In on Saturday September 21. To everyone who performed, attended, or helped make the show possible.... THANK YOU!!!!!!! We hope we'll be able to bring it all back again next year. Special thanks to 99.9 The Buzz, SoBe, and TSMGO in Montreal for throwing themselves into making the show possible, to Quenney for ballbusting through an entire day of sound engineering, to Anthony Gamache for sharing his *awesome* drive-in with us, to Mikey and Spencer for wearing eight billion different official hats during the show, to Sparky and Kim for pitching a swell vibe into the mix, to all the bands who were so incredibly cool to us, to Barry at Best Buy for the security radios, to the Franklin County Sheriff's Department and the Town of St. Albans for (seriously) *helping* us bring a hoard of punk rockers to their town. Again, to anyone who was there or pitched in, THANK YOU!

DRIVE-IN PHOTOS WANTED
If you were at the Punk Rock Drive-In on Saturday Setpember 21 and took photos, Big Heavy World and a lot of the bands that played would LOVE to get scans of the pics! BHW would put them on the web site with a photo credit if you email them to redshift@bigheavyworld.net. Thanks in advance!

VOLUNTEERS WANTED
If you're curious about how we keep busy here on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6-8pm, get in touch. We've got a pile of projects ongoing, including the Big Heavy Buzz Fest at Memorial during First Night, and welcome volunteers to join the crew. My email is redshift@bigheavyworld.net and the office is on the third floor of the building Pure Pop is in - email or come by in person to see how things go down here.

MORE THANKS: Thanks are long past-due to Kevin Murakami and Brian Sterling for the loan of tripods this summer; to Tony Bader for putting us behind the steering wheel of "Rascal" the almost-and-soon-to-be-legal new BHW pickup truck (we're throwing money at rent before emergency brakes...); and to Ethan Covey for kind words about BHW many Seven Days issues ago now. Thanx also to the bands of Hellbender who are ptiching in so hard to make it something (literally) wicked: Assemble the Remains (http://www.assembletheremains.com) and Day of Reckoning have been putting sweat into it. check Jim Hadeka's smokin' HELLBENDER site at http://www.bigheavyworld.com/hellbender/.
