The show is the U.S. CD release party of Montreal punx VAGINAL CROUTONS (yahdood, our favorite band name!). A bunch of the BHW crew saw them open for The Misfits a few weeks ago... a riot - they rock with special sauce...
If any of these bands are new to you then check their web sites. They're all amazing and they all have their own thing going on - we don't bust nuts to showcase talent for nothing - these bands are ALL worth seeing live.
THE VENUE:
The St. Albans Drive-In is an incredible venue that has to be *somebody's* best kept secret. The St. Albans Drive-In is the coolest place, whether you go for the movies or (now) the music... whodathunk it's be run by closet rawkers? :) The Drive-In is at at Exit 20 on Interstate 89 - that's the second St. Alban's exit when you're driving north from Burlington. When you get off the freeway (heading north from Burlington), take a left turn at the end of the off-ramp and go straight until you have to turn either right or left (less than a mile). Go right. You'll already have seen the drive-in screen from the freeway, but now you're guaranteed to find it. Here's a map: http://www.maporama.com/share/Map.asp?MapID=EA142F10-8579-4C4B-8A12-E381DE7C00FB&language=En
TICKETS:
Tix are $10 - grab them at the show or at Pure Pop or at all Flynn Regional Box Office outlets. You can charge them to a credit card by calling 86-FLYNN or online at http://www.flynncenter.org. They're at Peacock Music in Plattsburgh; and Sound Source in Middlebury too starting the week of 9/9. (If you order through a Flynn outlet there's a $1 non-refundable service charge. Pure Pop takes cash only.) If you're at CVU you can tag one of the BHW crew there, they're packing a few too.
The show is ALL AGES - expect mature language - NO ALCOHOL and NO RE-ENTRY (We're such big meanies. But we love you too much to let anyone get stoopit)
THE SPONSORS:
This show wouldn't be happening without SoBe (http://www.sobebev.com) and 99.9 The Buzz (http://www.999thebuzz.com). They help us make some noize for our scene because they want to support it; please support them. Listen to the Homebrew Show on 99.9 The Buzz for the next couple of Sundays @ 9:30pm to soak up some local music and maybe even some live interviews of Punk Rock Drive-In bands. Big Heavy also owes thanks to TSMGO (The Show Must Go On Productions, http://www.tsmgo.ca) in Montreal. They're helping us make this thing real and it seems we're at the beginning of a long history of making some connections between Montreal's local music and ours.
HELP US GET WORD OUT:
If you are like us and are genetically programmed to support your local artists, you can download the handbills for the show at http://www.bigheavyworld.com/downloads/driveinflyers.pdf Any help getting them out there is much appreciated, and I think it's safe to say the same thanks would come from the bands involved. They're all performing to support Big Heavy World; anything that helps support them is good luv.
If you want a PDF of the poster (about 1MB), download it at http://www.bigheavyworld.com/downloads/driveinposter.pdf
The illustration is by Steve Hogan - check his other (crayzee!) art at http://www.steve-hogan.com.
TO BANDS NOT ON THE BILL THIS YEAR:
We had a bunch of bands willing or interested in playing this year and wish the world would LET us pack that many into a single show. To anybody who was in touch about it, please stay in touch - if all goes well we'll bring it back again, and you'll be who we want involved. If anywhere along the line our communication failed and you wondered what was up, the reality is that we do occasionally suck but *never* intentionally, and all we want is success and and a good time for everybody so please help us make that happen by being persistent.
