SPINE CHURCH: ALL AGES SUMMER SERIES AT METRONOME
The dates are falling into place and Big Heavy World's SPINE CHURCH summer series is coming together: MOST MONDAYS ALL SUMMER AT METRONOME... ALL AGES and all kinds of live music! Keep your eye on the BHW bulletin board (http://www.bigheavyworld.com/bulletinboard/) or listen to 99.9 The Buzz for upcoming shows... and make yourself known 'cause the BHW Casket Crew Video Posse is filming interviews and live show footage there all summer! We're bringing in out-of-town bands, high school bands, and all the rowdy locals who care to play for fun, for the Casket Crew, for BHW (proceeds support us), and to get live online broadcasts heard through the BHW site. Volunteer crewguyz Joe Beaulieu and Jordan Winkler are booking now (info, booking@bigheavyworld.net). The whole series will be ALL AGES and substance-free (we're hiding the booze from the tweakers...). Metronome is at 188 Main Street above Nectar's. Thanks to 99.9 The Buzz (http://www.999thebuzz.com) for helping us get word out about the series - they help us pimp local music *hard*. Thanks also to Mark at Metronome for letting it go down and the Burlington Police Dept. for helping us figure out the reg-yoo-lations (props to Lt. Davidson). Here's what's confirmed (with plenty still in the pipe): Monday June 10, PREVENT FALLS (http://www.preventfallsonline.com), WHIPPERSNAPPER (http://www.whippersnappermusic.com), BLIND LUCK (http://www.blindluckmusic.com), and YOURS TRULY (http://www.yourstruly.moonfruit.com). Monday July 29, DOWNSLIDE (http://www.downslide.net), FORCE 57 (http://www.thestaticage.com/force57), and X-ACTO. Way more to come, stay tuned.
BHW CASKET CREW VIDEO POSSE ON 90.1 WRUV
Looks like you'll be able to catch the BHW Casket Crew Video Posse hanging at the WRUV 90.1 studio on Friday the 31st. Their host is F.P. Cassini on his Howie Rose Show, 9am 'til Noon from the University of Vermont campus. We're not sure who-all's going to represent from the seven-person crew, but you'll hear what the posse is up to this year, for sure... the band interviews, the reckless endangerment at Tuesday meetings, the SPINE CHURCH video shoots, the OVX grant that made the team possible... Tag F.P. at thehowieroseshow@collegeclub.com and hit the WRUV site at http://www.uvm.edu/~wruv
CGI/PHP/MYSQL CODERS WANTED. NO $ BUT THE MUSIC'S GOOD...
We've got a pile of projects happening here and not nearly enough people whacking away at the PHP/mySQL and CGI backends of it all. If by chance you're a hard-core coder with time to volunteer at BHW and bring your talents to the service of Vermont's music, please bring it on. Crackers and script kiddies please stay at home; if you're the real deal and want to build a pro portfolio or just contribute for the pleasure of it, contact Jim at redshift@bigheavyworld.net or stop by any Thursday at 6pm when we meet to talk biz and mope about not having pizza money... And as always if you're not a coder but want to help us do what we do, please get in touch too. The office is at 215 College Street, on the third floor of the bilding that Pure Pop is in. Phone is (802) 865-1140.
BHW THANX
We've got buckets of thanks to spread around this issue and next. For now, Thanks to 99.9 The Buzz for letting us be a part of the Advance Music/Buzz Homebrew High School Band Search. We love being able to support an event that gets our freshest local musicians seen and heard. Thanks to Cabot Orton for his far-freaking-more-than-generous support that helped us catch up with rent last month... good will and support like his reminds us that we don't (totally) suck. Again, thanks Cabot. Many more thanks in the next issue...
