MUSIC2FIGHTCANCER BENEFIT THIS SATURDAY: TEN BANDS/8 HOURS:
This Saturday, December 1, TEN BANDS rough up the Club Metronome stage to raise money and help for a young Vermont cancer victim. Be there for: DOWNSLIDE (http://www.downslide.net), NO GUARANTEE (http://bounce.to/noguarantee), WEASEL HEAD, PLEASANT TENSE (http://www.pleasanttense.bigheavyworld.com/), BLIND LUCK MUSIC, THE BAZOOKAS (http://www.members.aol.com/thebazookas), SKARMY OF DARKNESS (http://the-spa.com/skarmy/), TORSION (http://www.damageyastamina.com), BLUNT, and SPLIT 50. Eight hours of live music begins at noon when the doors open. There's free food and we can't stress enough how much your support for this intense cause will mean. It's ALL AGES, $7, info at http://www.music2fight.com.

BIGHEAVYBUZZFEST: GIANT ALL-AGES NEW YEAR'S ROCKOUT AT MEMORIAL:
Big Heavy World, 242 Main (http://www.monsterfestvt.com/242main.html), 99.9 The Buzz (http://www.999thebuzz.com), and OVX (Our Voices xposed, http://www.ovx.org) have joined forces to present one of First Night Burlington's hardest rocking events ever - a giant local noizefest cramming eight bands into every floor of Memorial Auditorium for your ALL AGES New Year's pleasure! Supersounds DJs (http://www.supersounds.com) slide into the 242 Main space to fire up a radio-hits dance party; 242 Main presents their jaw-cracking showcase in the Annex with RIVER CITY REBELS (http://www.rivercityrebels.com), DROWNINGMAN (http://www.drowningmanhatesyou.com), DYSFUNKSHUN (http://www.dysfunkshun.com) and THE STATIC AGE (http://www.thestaticage.com); and Big Heavy World drags ORBIT (http://www.orbitband.com), ZOLA TURN (http://www.zolaturn.com), JAMES KOCHALKA SUPERSTAR (http://indyworld.com/kochalka), and THE BAZOOKAS (http://www.members.aol.com/thebazookas) to Memorial's Main Stage for an altpop frosting on this three-tiered tasty treat. Admission is with a First Night button - ten bucks through November 30, then $13 after December 1. You can grab buttons in stores and banks all over town, and online at the First Night Burlington site: http://www.firstnightburlington.com. You might even win one if you listen to 99.9 The Buzz (which you'll be doing every Sunday at 9:30pm from now on anyway, 'cause that's when Kevin Murrihy's Homebrew Show spins music from our local music family and Montreal's too). The BIGHEAVYBUZZFEST is ALL AGES and substance-free. Details at www.firstnightburlington.com! BIGHEAVYBUZZFEST is also supported by Pepsi, UPN 39 (http://www.wbvt.com), and Advance Music (http://www.advancemusicvt.com/).

BLACK LIST MEETING THURSDAY
Next Black List meeting for anybody who wants to help kick the Burlington scene into higher gear, especially for the all-ages crowd, is this Thursday at Red Square, 6pm. Red Square's on lower Church Street, across from City Hall. Info/discussions on the BHW bulletin board at http://www.bigheavyworld.com.

BHW THANX:
Our thanx goes out this week to Wayne Perry, engineer at Vermont Public Radio (http://www.vpr.net), for fixing our long-crippled 8mm video camera. It's nice to have the gear back in action and it would have been dead forever without his generous help.

BHW LABEL NEWZ > CHIN HO! ON-AIR AT DIGITAL SATELLITE RADIO LAUNCH
On November 12 the first nation-wide digital satellite radio network scored coast-to-coast coverage with a hundred channels of pure digital audio delivered by satellite... and XM Satellite Radio's Channel 52 was broadcasting "Vincent's Head" from Burlington homeboyz and BHW recording artists Chin Ho!. The digital satellite radio service is brand new, but it seems like everybody's making receivers (Sony, Alpine, Pioneer) and everybody's going to be selling them (Best Buy, Circuit City, Radio Shack, Sears). Cool thing is the digital radios are made for cars (it's a subscription service, $9.99 a month). XM's commercial-free Channel 52 is programmed by Pat Dinizio, the founder and leader of Smithereens, in search of "the musical geniuses who could blow your socks off next week or next year... bands too pure for a major label, or inspired experimenters ahead of their time." Well alrighty then. Check http://www.xmradio.com.

BHW LABEL NEWZ > CHAINSAWS.AND.CHILDREN ON VOIDSTAR COMP
CORONAL MASS EJECTION, a fresh, phat industrial compilation CD is out, featuring chainsaws.and.children's 'Species X' among other German and American trax. With a "spotlight on the industrial edge," it's the first CD release form Voidstar Productions, an artist-supportive organization in Massachusetts similar to the one run by the cranky geeks you know so well. For more info about the CME comp (or to order), visit http://www.syntheticcreations.com/cme/ and http://www.voidstarproductions.com.
